It appears that MSFT did not do a very good job of forcing IBM out of selling Lotus Dominoes/Notes.

Server products like Notes/Exchange or the various SQL db's or even the web server that Microsoft bundles with NT aren't part of the suit. It concerns only the desktop.

IBM's a joke.

One week they are the king of the internet, the next millenium and every other company is a firefly too be squashed unless they buy from IBM in which case they will not be squashed.

The next week they are walking around like a beggar, lamenting woe is me.

IBM could have used its own"superior" O/S2 and avoided the MSFT hold up.JFD

IBM put on the OS/2 Box "a better Windows than Windows"
IBM called it OS/2 or the next OS.
IBM said it would replace Windows on the desktop.
IBM was probably 10 times bigger than MSFT

I can't imagine why MSFT would begin to act competitive.
