Almost certainly *not*.

It implies that the IPO was dead, or in the least that mp3 believed it could get a better deal by a merger that would allow its shareholders to instead own RRRR's shares.

Of course RRRR could always spin off RRRR, and own none, part, or a controlling interest. That approach is in disfavor these days (TMO tried it for years, and it undoing it now); but in any event would be a very different deal than the old one, and would need a whole new set of IPO papers.
