Monday June 7, 8:50 pm Eastern Time Creative taps deeper into Internet SINGAPORE, June 8 (Reuters) - Singapore's multimedia firm Creative Technology Ltd said on Tuesday it plans to offer broadband Internet access solutions together with U.S. Lucent Technolgies (NYSE:LU - news) and Centillium Technology. Creative said in a statement it planned to produce high speed modems to offer these solutions through its channel partners and retailers beginning in the third quarter of this year. Under the collaborations, Creative will use Lucent's WildWire (TM) DSP1690-based chip set to offer broadband connectivity for Original Equipment Manufacturers, system integrators and retail. It will use Centillium's Optimizer(TM) chip set to provide the same high speed Internet access for home users. ''Creative's goal is to build better vehicles for the Internet information highway. These broadband solutions will deliver on this promise and enable a host of exciting audio and video enhanced Internet services and applications,'' Creative's Chairman Sim Wong Woo said. ''It is our intent to be a leader in this new exciting market,'' Sim added.
