The turn around in Rambus price certainly must have caught some shorts holding a shitty position. I am very surprised to see it, but we have Morgan Stanley upgrading Rambus today from Outperform to Strong Buy. Don't know why, maybe it's because Micron has said they'll have DRDRAM in second half. Intel paid Micron to make this happen if I remember correctly. Intel will probably do what they can to power the Rambus story regardless of the desire of DRAM makers to have another standard which they can use with no royalty.

Anyway, it looked like the announcement from IBM was certainly a nail in the Rambus coffin, but a timely announcement and a upgrade may have saved their share price for another day. Perhaps the story is still full of holes, but...

Anyway, today was probably a short squeeze and I'm sure people like BF, if this is the real BF, are not happy. Funny thing is I usually feel it's the shorts who are running the disinformation campaigns.

I feel a little burned from an investment in Ramtron a year or so ago. I had hoped that they could come up with a DRAM standard, but they've got bad management with a struggle over the stock related to a bankruptcy of one of the founders. This coupled with Intel's throwing considerable weight behind Rambus, an equity position, left the market feeling Rambus was a slam dunk. I was hoping for Rambus to fall.

Anyway, I look forward to faster memory and I think it will add some good value to equipment makers and put new life into the upgrade cycle for PC's. I had thought we'd see some high end PC's already this year with DRDRAM.

On another topic, the backing of Intel and lately MOT of Proxim will probably secure them into a very interesting market for WLAN products. I watched Proxim make some good products for the office, but then they stalled for a while. Now, they have had a very good come back which makes me reluctant to chase their share price.

It's been an interesting story to see Proxim make a product that will cross over seamlessly from the high end office WLAN to a lesser version for the home, and probably soon to include airports, hotels, convention centers, etc. This would seem to give them great position as more offices have the WLAN.

Funny thing was I'd spoken to a development engineer at Proxim about 18 months ago to get information about their office products and I asked him why I never see a wireless product for the home using the simple cordless phone? The guy sounded like I'd asked him something he'd never thought of and just maybe I started them off onto a new product cycle. Well, anyway that's how I prefer to see it. :}

Regards,

Mark

Assuming my facts are correct, Bill F has not stopped beating his wife.

What a weasel.
