Maurice--Along the lines of leaving slow cycle time phone makers and their operators in the dust, look at this from YAHOO!! If these numbers are correct, it must clear the thought process to see a leading company drop 8.3% market share in a month----in just a few months you could be put out of business by fickle customers that demand the best. I understand DoCoMo doesn't plan to have W-CDMA until sometime in 2001. What about good ol AT&T in the US--they see no need to trade in their relatively new TDMA equipment. What a decision with Sprint rapidly going to net access ala AOL. With fast cycle times, those who get behind never get a second chance to make a second mistake. RIP!!

NTT DoCoMo's Market Share Falls to 41.8% in May, Nikkei Says

Tokyo, June 8 (Bloomberg) -- NTT DoCoMo Corp.'s share of the world's
largest cellular phone market fell to 41.8 percent in May from 50.1 percent from
April, the Nihon Keizai newspaper said, without citing sources. DoCoMo has
been losing clients in Japan to a new type of cellular phone service operated
jointly by DDI Corp. and IDO Corp. The service, called cdmaOne, features
better sound quality than conventional cell phones.

NTT DoCoMo said last month its group current profit, or income from operation
before taxes, jumped 12 percent to 350 billion yen ($2.9 billion) for the year
ended March 31.
