Well, I organized the "Smart Cub Quitters" and fought guerrilla war against the homophobic Boy Scouts of America. I don't think I earned any cub badges before I quit. We relatively badgeless ones need to support each other. I suspect Rehnquist didn't earn many badges either. This might account for his golden sergeant stripes on his Chief Justicial robe. I carefully keep the labels on my shorts and t-shirts. They itch a little, but it's for the honor of the thing.
