In melinda's case, I was thinking more of be- bop and the Village, of beatniks reciting poetry and abstract expressionists exhibiting in the local galleries, of Pete Seeger and Norman Mailer and Jack Kerouac, ghosts of a past that created her world, even in the Bay area...

I thought the 30's and the 40's really sucked. Depression. War. I thought the 50's were really great. War, Recession. Hmm--mm maybe
the 60's? War, Inflation. Ah, give it up. They all suck except the 90's have been supergreat.
