Great story on the Ingrams...

I learned a great deal. First heard of them back in 86 when I was in the PC business. Ingram Software was a Nashville based fledging software distributor, that was a spinoff from their book business. They were way behind the clear number one market leader; Micro D out of Santa Anna, CA. Out of nowhere, Ingram up and buys Micro D and renames itself Ingram Micro. They never looked back. They supplied all the Computerlands, Entres, etc with software only. Then started selling a little hardware accessories, but no PC's. Then got the full line of all the products and became the worlds largest.

Here's what I didn't know:
Bronson Ingram's dad served time for bribing a Chicago official for a sewer contract!? Bronson got off. I guess the old man took the rap. Bronson got a Texas based textbook distributor in 1976 from his jailbird father. Hmmm, I wonder if they had the keys to a schoolbook depository building in Dallas?

Please
remember that MS got 7% on every $dollar, that Bezos ever borrowed (I think that's
about $105mil).

James,

MS received 7% on the original underwriting but they received 15% for all the junk bond offerings.
