Barb, I have often had my horses win races without their jockeys. Who needs a nasty little man with a whip? <g> I have also had my horses knocked out of races by riderless horses who don't really care about the rules of the game.

I once sat next to a guy who bet $4000 to show on a horse that was a huge favorite, and the jockey did a Mafia Swan Dive coming out of the gate. He almost had a cardiac arrest. So, next race, he bet $4000 to show on a D. Wayne Lukas shipper against lower quality horses at The Fair Grounds in New Orleans. Dead last. Had he "won" either of those races, he would have received $4,200. Not a good risk/reward tradeoff.
