Yesterday I tried very hard to stay out of this because never, ever have people behaved this way on Rambi, except for very small brief outbursts which they quickly, out of respect for the others, took to PM or got over. Also it was impossible for me to really understand all that has happened having been gone over a week and missing thousands of posts and I didn't want to be premature in judging a situation or even reacting to it--and I was still very tired. However, I am just sick reading this morning that someone actually feels driven away from DAR, feels ganged up on. I am sorry, Neo. I read enough to know that you and Coby were BOTH incredibly persistent in carrying on with this strange war of strong wills, you as much as she. Yes, you apologized, but you also used extremely passive aggressive techniques saying things like, I feel sorry for you, and hope you feel better--now you are very intelligent and you know damn well those are button-pushers. And Coby, who cared if Neo posted a speech he thought was appropriate to his threads for D-Day? The spamming rule is to keep touters in line. It was an interesting speech. This baffled me. And that whole thing with copyrights and attorney's jokes. I'm married to a lawyer, and his parents gave him a mug that has that Shakespeare quote on it about "Kill all the lawyers" which everyone knows is out of context and is from I think a speech about anarchy and how we NEED law- And I hear a ton of dumb blonde jokes-- who cares. But neither one of you would take the step of saying- Wow this is so stupid. Which it was. Also, knowing Mel and jp, neither of whom has a mean bone in her body, I do think they were trying to raise this to the level of our usual teasing here at DAR. We have always treated guys as barbacoa victims. There is a long, complex history of covens and loveslaves, and women in thongs. Every man here can tell you that he has been shot by gummis, roasted in a cauldron and been a "pet". HAving proved that they are real men, (these are JOKES, but unfortunately probably lost in the miasma of thread chaos and thus incomprehensible to newcomers) they are then DARians- and we would defend them to the death. A lot of the play has gone out of DAR, and it saddens me. But mostly, I'm pretty mad. I have a lot of time and love invested here and I care about all of you a lot, but not enough to watch this thread become like the others, or waste time being made uncomfortable by adults sniping at each other. I refuse to play either mom or classroom monitor to a bunch of intelligent people who should certainly be capable of getting along on a cyber thread or ignoring each other, of going an extra mile and saying you probably didn't mean this, did you know it hurt? and moving on. When all is said and done, we have have real lives, with jobs and kids, and responsibilities and no one here should take things to the level this was taken, including me. DAR is the place to relax from those 3D pressures, not add to them. DAmn it. Please reread the thread intro. There are no rules here--- about topics, grammar, or required educational levels. If there is a rule, it's Be Kind. Leave your guns at the door. Period. I love you all.
