Update for 8:31 a.m. EDT
Officials have given the okay to begin loading the Delta 2 rocket's first stage with super-cold liquid oxygen. The stage was loaded with RP-1 fuel, a highly refined kerosene, earlier this morning.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Update for 8:29 a.m. EDT
The launch team reports the rocket's guidance system has been turned on for launch.

Update for 8:22 a.m. EDT
Now under two hours from the launch of Delta 270 carrying four satellites for the Globalstar communications network. A weather briefing was just given to the launch team and conditions are currently unacceptable. Air Force meteorologists say there are anvil clouds within 10 nautical miles of the pad, which is a constraint to launch. A reconnaissance aircraft will be dispatched during the countdown to provide insight into the cloud situation.

At launch pad 17B, the rocket's first stage helium and nitrogen systems have been pressurized. Pressurization of those systems on the second stage continues. The second stage second fuel and oxidizer tanks have been pressurized. In addition, the launch team continues work to turn on the rocket's guidance system.
