RE: DELL and IBM

This certainly makes sense from DELL's standpoint, but I can't see IBM going for it. The increase in gross margins for IBM's PC/server business are a given, in addition to DELL's more advanced on-line capabilities. But there would likely be a sacrifice in business to other PC manufacturers. Note particularly IBM's deal yesterday with Acer, much on the same lines as an earlier announcement for IBM and DELL. Acer will buy about $8 billion over the next 6 years, as compared to DELL's deal with IBM for about $16 billion.
