CNBC Faber just highlighted the KUMAR recommendation and mentioned the "mid-teen target" and then other's chipped in with negative COMPAQ observations. Faber said he had heard nothing about a new CEO and it was being run by a triumverate at the moment. Sentiment is approaching a nadir. I expect some announcements next 7 to 10 days but whether they can support the price is anyone's guess. Briefing.com (before the market opened): 09:15 ET: The S&P futures closed up 0.20 points, little changed from the earlier update, meaning a positive open for the Dow... Interest rates steady with the 30-year bond +6/32 (yield of 5.95%) which should help the broader market... PC stocks to open lower this morning as DLJ lowers revenue and earnings estimates on Compaq (CPQ 23 7/8), Dell (DELL 35 3/4), IBM (IBM 120 1/2), Hewlett Packard (HWP 94), Sun (SUNW 60 11/16 ), and EMC (EMC 53 3/4) based on a spending slowdown... Research report could hurt other tech stocks too, aside from Internet stocks which should get a boost from the Disney discussions to buy the rest of Infoseek (SEEK 43) shares it does not already own.
