From the Paine Webber Growth and Technology Conference:

Our partner TV Guide had this to say today:

TV Guide (TVGIA: news, msgs) Chief Financial Officer Craig Waggy
said the company is adding 5,000 homes per day to its TV Guide
Interactive Service. The digital set-top box service now has 2 million
subscribers. The media company performed a test of its upcoming TV
Games Network, which allows horse betting in states where legal. A
Kentucky test generated $1,400 per month per household. Waggy also
said advertiser response has been "overwhelmingly strong" to its ability to
offer access across multiple media platforms. He said TV Guide couldn't
comment on talks with Gemstar about settlment of their six-year-old
litigation over listing content. TV Guide is "very close" to closing its deal
Source Media to offer local content, he added. And the company is also
negotiating with cable companies to offer its TV Guide listings on
televisions as soon as you turn them on. The company has considered
spinning some of its units off in IPOs, but nothing is imminent, Waggy said.
