Big guy,

The danger of owning these utility stocks is rising interest rate. We have to be very careful at this juncture to own any of them, unless the potential of being take over is obvious to us. We need a strategy.

Sincerely,
Wade

Big Guy,

I just found one super play which is CCC. They just announced quarterly dividend of 0.08. At stock price at $5.5 we have 5.8% yield while we are waiting for recovery. The long bond is just about 6.0% right now. Check the news. CCC is the world largest producer of activated carbon for fluid purifications, including drinking water. At this low price it is an ideal take over target. Good luck.

Sincerely,
Wade

From briefing.com: 09:09 ET Azur ix: Initial public offering of water and
wastewater management company prices. Company selling 36.6 mln at $19 each, in a
deal led by Merrill Lynch.

This is the low end of the price range...it will be interesting to see how this opens. I'll be
watching like a hawk....!

Re: AZX...I bit on this and took a small position at 19 7/16. I have no idea short term where this will go, so will leg into full position if this goes lower. As mentioned before, netting out the one-time UK windfall tax in 1998 for Wessex, this stock is trading with a PE of 10-11. An eventual PE of 18, in line with other acquisitive water companies like AWK or PSC does not seem unreasonable to me.
