I'm holding my AOL, I have a feeling that even though everyone is focused on this "cable thing" ...Steve Case is still going full speed on implementing the DSL, and other things...
I have faith that DSL will come down in price sooner than we think...

KG4, I am in AOL for the long haul. And why should I not. I have made a killing and I hope so have others. Now onto the cable/DSL thing. With the DSL launch a couple of months away, AOL has spent money to have their central servers upgraded to service DSL lines. This I am sure costs money and I presume AOL has spent that money already. Very soon the benefits of spending that amount will start to show.

Now for the broadband deal, the lines are not laid out yet in some cases and in other cases I think that ATT has to spend some more money to upgrade existing lines. Besides, AOL has to spend money at their server end to service cable calls. So why spend the money now when the lines are not ready yet. Why not spend it on DSL where they can reap immediate gains. Steve Case and the boys are smart. They have to drive home this to the investors. I guess they have opted to show them in concrete terms and that will take about 6 months or so. In the meantime, why not delay ATT from making the initial investment via court rulings such as the Oregon decision. The more the delay, the better are the chances for ATT to strike deals with the ISPs on bulk rates. So it is all a game.

Now some feel that nothing will help this stock unless Case himself speaks out. I don't think Case needs to speak for DSL and against broadband. Not politically correct for him to do so. All AOL needs to do is to show to the investing community the benefits of their trand of thought. And patience is the name of the game.

Hence I am sure that in the long run, 6 months plus AOL will come out ahead.
