Thats the whole problem with portals.... where does a website end and a portal begin anyway since theoretically any site can become a portal. The thing that differentiates gnet a little is the SI community which rivals the AOL communities and for the most important topic - financial info. Everything else about gnet is similiar in some ways to the other portals but SI stands alone, so the question is how much is it worth. My opinion is SI makes gnet worth more than the also-ran portals, until somebody knocks SI off the thone. Since the mkt cap of gnet is lower than everybody else I don't have to make too many decisions here. But the stock still needs coverage to move.

<< why can't you just look at
that pcdata compare the number of viewers for say yahoo to gnet and come out
with a stock price normalized to outstanding shares ratio with number of viewers.>>

Because different portals can charge different rates depending on such factors as demographics as well as reach. Regardless of whether Yahoo! has more views next month than GNET, they can in general charge higher ad rates because they are perceived to have a longer reach and a better demographic than GNET. GNET in turn can charge equivalent (or maybe higher) rates to online brokerages because GNET's SI and Stocksite community make this a very desirable focus demographic for them over Yahoo! (insane) Finance community sites.
