Charles, an interesting analysis (and in a financial paper!), with much merit...Fleming has raised a lot of hackles as the intellectual mentor of what I call "right- wing populism", of the sort that Buchanan espouses. And Buckley is not a neocon, at worst a "midcon", trying to keep factions together. I have no strong opinion on the Rothbard matter...I agree that the paleos have much to contribute as an intellectual force, but there needs to be a minimal consensus forged that will permit debates to occur within a common frame of reference. Populism is, I think, not the way to go to do that:-)...
