Hopkins is so wonderful to read aloud. And Yeats. And in an entirely different, enigmatic, faux-naive, noir-comic sort of way, so is Stevie Smith.

The best dinner party I ever went to ended up with anthologies of poetry being passed around the table, and people choosing favorites and reading them aloud. Just happened spontaneously, because someone had quoted something, a book got pulled off the shelf.... One of the other guests, and a wonderful reader, unsurprisingly, was Galway Kinnell.
