DLJ reiterates its "Buy" rating for AAPL ; zonks other WinTel vendors

AAPL's "retail" customer sales capabilities remain favorable but other (WinTel) IT customers expected to curtail PC spending over Y2K:

" DLJ maintained buy ratings on Apple and Ingram Micro, citing Apple's strong retail presence and Ingram's base of small and medium-sized business customers.

... Compaq and Dell could suffer from a decline in demand for commercial PCs and servers toward the
end of 1999, DLJ said.

Estimates were unchanged on Apple Computer Inc. (Nasdaq:AAPL - news), Gateway 2000 Inc. (NYSE:GTW - news), Ingram Micro Inc. (NYSE:IM - news) or Tech Data Corp. (Nasdaq:TECD - news) because they have limited dependence on IT spending. "
