Yes, I've had a good past two years buying, selling, and selling short. I think the key for average investors is a good mix of solid mutual funds, high quality companies and high risk stocks. With the high risk comes great reward if you have the resources to stay on top of your investments.

Ocassionally, a high quality company takes a dip. This is opportunity time if you have a longer term view. One gem is CSCO. I picked up a load in November when it dipped into the 40s. Before you knew it, it was 100. Score! (There are thousands of better stories, but few that were less risky.)
