Thanks for the link and no I had not read the piece yet. This is also news to me:

In the meantime, AOL is planning to launch AOL Plus, its own broadband offering, over telephone lines equipped with digital subscriber line technology. AOL is expected to get a $10 cut of the $40 AOL Plus access fee – leaving the rest to the telcos – and it may be looking for a similar deal for cable.

I see this fall as a boon for AOL. The introduction of highspeed wireless, the sale of many wireless hand helds and under $400 PC's between now and Christmas, the DSL roll out, and AOL's plans to include a free computer to the premium service subscribers. Add this to the Christmas retail season and 4th quarter should be another block buster to say the least.
