Risk & reward are what make penny stocks so fantastic. By assuming more risk, you also assume more reward. If you throw your money into a bank, you have a very low level of risk - and a correspondingly low level of reward; maybe 3%-4%. Put your money into the larger cap stocks, and get a higher risk, but also a higher reward, such as 12%. Small caps, the risk is even higher, but so is the reward - around 17% to 20%. And microcaps have an even higher risk, and the corresponding higher reward. That is what makes penny stocks so exciting - the opportunity to go beyond the normal. Yes, many pennies flop - the high risk is real. But some make it - big. If I remember correctly, IOMEGA went from 54 cents to 54 dollars in 18 months. And I think that Webcrawler went from $1 to $36. The last penny stock I sold out of about a month or so ago I made roughly 1500% on. Much better than the bank or local credit union, I think. And NYRR has made it big - some of us got in for as low as 7 cents. NYRR is a big winner for us. Yet I think it still has strong potential. Some pennies make it over the hill - I think the little train can.
