RESEARCH ALERT-CSFB ups Vodafone target

LONDON, June 9 (Reuters) - Credit Suisse First Boston said on Wednesday it raised its
price target on mobile 'phone operator Vodafone Plc to 15.00 pounds from 13.50 pounds
and repeated a ''buy'' rating on the stock in the wake of Tuesday's stronger-than-expected
profits.

CSFB analyst Phil Campbell said he trimmed his fiscal 2001 earnings per share estimate two percent to 26.7 pence to reflect
rising investment, but highlighed an expected significantly rise in mobile data expenditures from next year that would provide
substantial new revenue opportunities for Vodafone.

Campbell said technical factors underlying the stock were also positive, with the looming AirTouch (NYSE:ATI - news) merger
set to boost the company's market weighting. A planned four-for-one stock split by Vodafone should also be positive influence,
he said.

Vodafone shares traded 27 pence or 2.1 percent higher at 13.25 pounds by 0922 GMT, not far from their record 13.68 set
last month.
