Samsung is the lead partner in an eight-company consortium backing AnyWeb, a new WAP-based mobile Internet service being launched in the week of 14 June 1999. Services will include news feeds, flight reservation, online shopping, and stock transactions.

Samsung Electronics is providing micro-browsers, security software, and the S-HTML Internet language. AI Net has developed proxy server operating software and mobile sites. Content providers include Asiana Airlines, Korean Bank, and Samsung Securities.

The partners claim that the service has the potential to reach the 18 mil wireless phone subscribers in S Korea.
