<I wonder how useful 3DNow>
The K7 FPU is designed to run the 3DNOW even faster clock for clock than the K6. Of course you have to believe the foils. (20/14=40% improvement)

At ISSCC the described the FPU as the FPU/Multimedia engine it is.

Ten/fyo, re:<<Tench: With AMD banking their hopes on a killer K7 FPU, I wonder how useful 3DNow! would be on K7.>>

<That's a very good question. However, the K7 has zero overhead when
switching to (and from) 3DNow!, as opposed to the K6-2 which had a
substantial overhead (can't remember the exact latency, sorry).>

The K7 also has TWO 3DNow! execution units, one in the FADD pipeline and one in the FMUL pipeline.
