JZ and all AMKR posters,

Why is this stock so cheap? Has wall street simply overlooked Amkor, in which case we should buy like h___ and wait for the market to come to us, or are there some serious problems with this company?

I have a list of 14 semi equips (where I have AMKR) and 17 semiconductors that I watch. According to "my" criteria, there are precious few in the whole bunch that are not overvalued. Most of these stocks have already risen in anticipation of the expected boom cycle.

Yes I saw the SSB downgrade on June 7. Lets say they did only earn $0.60 for the fiscal year. Why shouldn't this company, growing earnings at more than 20% annually, have a P/E of 20. I would think that is a modest P/E, certainly not aggressive, especially in this market. That would put the stock at $12 right now. With a rise in share price in line with earnings growth in the next year, we'd be at $15. That's a 100% gainer in a year!

And this has been a conservative analysis in my opinion. With a more reasonable approach, let's say they deserve a P/E of 25. If they make the consensus estimate for $0.90 next year, that puts next year's fair value at $22.5. Even if they come in on the low side with $.75 next year, a fair P/E of 25 would put us at $19.

And if we do have an honest to goodness boom cycle, isn't it reasonable to expect them to start exceeding the estimates in a few quarters? Of course, there'd be the associated upgrades and raising of estimates.

These numbers look HUGE to me.

Can someone please tell me where I'm wrong about this company. I've only been watching this one for a short time, and I'm doing my due diligence, reading the back news releases and so forth. I'm very close to investing in this company. SOMEBODY STOP ME!

Thanks in advance for any advice.
