Several versions of that picture? No, I didn't know, but it does not surprise me.

What did surprise me was the comment of a friend of mine who actually went to the recent Pollock show. She complained that Pollock was a terrible colorist (!), and that his paintings were muddy (!). Certainly not true of the paintings I have seen...(Not speaking of reproductions, of course, which can always be "doctored.")
