>>why is such a major piece of the company treated like it doesn't exist?<<

the fact that muei sucks must be a little more intuitive to the masses so they disregard it. less to get greedy over, i guess.

Tad, re: MUEI. I think you answered your own rhetorical question. Plus, it is a bugger to deconstruct the intercompany transactions, especially if you need an HP to add and subtract. -g-

AA LaFountain III/All:

My only question for "Grunts" is the entire arguement is premised on "micron is the low cost producer" well excuse me but I did not know that Gruntal had access to the cost structures of the Japanese, taiwanese and Korean counterparts. To make statements like that without any substantiated backup is imo plain out and out touting. Direct normal cost is not usually found on the balance sheets of these companies as it ends up being one of the most guarded secrets in any commodity producing industry. Without access to yields, cost of quality, packaging costs, labor costs, compliance etc how do they make this case. I get very confused when I read "research reports" like this....

Its a big duuuh that in a commodity market, the low cost best financed, least debt servicing producer wins. The big question is which one(s) are they. If they can have the data, then they should lay out the cost and financial structures of the Japanese, Korean and Taiwanese producers side by side with Micron. oops, I forgot, this may require real research.... jmho
