From Briefing-Group held up relatively well on news that Warburg Dillon Read started coverage of KLA-Tencor Corp. (KLAC 49 7/16 +1 7/16) Applied Materials Inc. (AMAT 61 13/16 unch) and Novellus Systems Inc. (NVLS 56 1/16 +1 1/4) with buy ratings and price targets of 57, 67 and 69 respectively... Separately, Schroders initiated coverage of Lam Research (LRCX 31 7/8 +1 9/16) with a buy and a price target of 47... In light of post-close SIA report (noted in chip brief above), bullish coverage proved timely... Expect chip equipment group to extend gains today.
