I disagree with you both. IMO the reason for the large spread is the lack of buying or selling interest in the stock. From my observations when buying interest starts to come in, wise investors usually place limit orders on their buys at or near the ask price. In order for the MMs to come up with shares to sell them, they raise the bid price until they are able to fill the buyers' requests. If the buying demand continues, up goes the ask price. They only raise the ask price after they have narrowed the spread and tried to get enough sells to meet the demand. The opposite occurs on sells, but I think the MMs are much more eager to lower the bid when selling activity increases than they are to raise the ask when buying activity increases. Watch when volume increases, the spread will tighten very quickly. The fact is TSIS is a very quiet stock right now until we get some news or developments which will create buying or selling interest. These are only my observations, not based on any research or expert opinion.
