"Microvision brings to the ISPOMT team the capability to commercialize the technical advances of other ISPOMT team members. This technology has the potential to achieve breakthrough advances in numerous visual applications such as cockpit situation awareness, manufacturing plan design and operation, and medical diagnostics and surgery."

This excerpt, unless I am guilty of an excess of exegesis, places a premium on MVIS' ability to "commercialize" ("to cause to yield pecuniary profit") [M-W 2d Int'l] the advances of the other members. Now, surely MVIS is a pimple on Polaroid's or Rockwell's back (just now, anyway) and is virtually (heh) invisible compared to Ford. So what is it that gives MVIS this ability to lead these giants through to the market when they can't do it themselves (a fair reading if the PR)? Is it the VRD engine or is it the IP portfolio relating to MEMOS (micro-electro-mechano-optical systems) or is it both?

BTW, recall that there was some buzz a month or so ago about commercialization in late 1999 of the entoptic perimetry device.
