PB,

Re:" This is absolutely wrong. See Elmer's earlier statement:

Kash, when Intel introduced their .25u process the first product was a Pentium for laptops. The new process provided a power savings while still providing good although not earth shaking performance. This gave Intel a pilot product to use as a process monitor, gathering valuable data on the process before moving their flagship on to a new unproven process. I think the 400MHz "dumb shrink Dixon" is intended for exactly the same purpose.

Intel has done this its last 3 process generations, for the exact reasons cited above."

I understand what you and elmer are saying and it does make sense.

I would have expected much higher performance from a quickshrink.

But I yield to your much greater and direct knowledge of this.

I guess it will be interesting to compare what the speeds of AMDs 0.18 parts when they finally do show up.

Regards,

Kash Johal.

RE: <...let's you and me, Elmer, Yousef, Scumbria and Paul start our own outfit. I propose "Dumbshrinks Are Us" as a first crack at a name. Elmer and Yousef can handle process, Paul can handle packaging, marketing, and sales. I'll be the Boy. You can be the President!>
