Ben,

the hardware DVD decoder is a misleading statement, the DVD decoding is still primarily software.

If you could post a link to where you found this information, I would appreciate it. I looked everywhere and I could not find any information of the DVD capabilities of the 3500.
The reason why I'm digging for a source is that the desktopVCR is an encoder and decoder card able to decode two mpeg2 streams at the same time for video mixing and such. It's my understanding that encoding is much more resource intensive and if this card can encode on the fly, I would suspect that full decoding via hardware is viable.

If you find a link that supports the 3500 having DVD hardware assist only, I would love to see it. I know that the DVD assist is an issue with the 2000 and 3000.

Voodoo3 3500 TV also provides full support for DVD playback via either the CCIR-601 interface or from the supplied WinDVD software DVD player from Intervideo
