I can easily believe it. It is always a problem to introduce a new product that is substantially better than the old product. That's why Intel usually has OEMs ready with boxes before announcing a new chip. Otherwise an announcement with nothing to ship is just suicide.

It's bad for AMD since they'll have a bundle of K6-2s in their channel which will be marked way down if they can be sold at all. It's even worse for Compaq and other OEMs who have full PCs in their channel which consumers don't want anymore because they've heard about K7 so why not wait for it?

I'm predicting that if K7 is announced in June it will be a very muffled announcement.
