ANDOVER, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 9, 1999-- At a groundbreaking ceremony today, NaviSite, Inc., a leading Application Service Provider (ASP) and Web hosting supplier, and a majority-owned subsidiary of CMGI, Inc. (Nasdaq:CMGI - news), announced the company has begun construction on a new data center. The new facility located at 400 Minuteman Park in Andover, MA will be one of the most technologically advanced data centers in the applications outsourcing industry, and will allow NaviSite to expand its rapidly growing applications outsourcing operation well into the next millennium.
The new facility at Minuteman Park will enable NaviSite to significantly expand its operation and will be customized to meet the company's specific infrastructure needs, which will include fully redundant electrical, HVAC, and fiber-optic Internet connectivity infrastructures, as well as mechanical and generator systems. The 50,000 square foot data center will be developed to coincide with the construction of the company's new corporate headquarters. The entire complex is expected to be completed by January 2000.

Businesses are seeing the financial benefits to outsourcing high-availability, high-performance business-critical Web applications that operate 24 hours a day, seven days a week. ''As the e-commerce industry grows, businesses must be able to meet a continuous flow of consumer activity on the Internet. Today's consumers want 24 hour access to their favorite retail stores or websites,'' stated Eisenberg.
NaviSite's new facilities will be fully outfitted with the latest technology from physical security to next-generation networking equipment.
