Log On America Signs Contract With UUNET
PROVIDENCE, R.I.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 28, 1999-- Increases Points Of Presence (PoP's) To Over 1,000

Log On America, Inc. (Nasdaq NNM:LOAX - news), a provider of high-speed Digital Subscriber Line (DSL) services in the Northeast Corridor, today announced that it has executed an agreement with UUNET, a MCI WorldCom Company (Nasdaq NNM:WCOM - news) and a global leader in Internet communications solutions, under which UUNET will provide Log On America with access to over 1,000 Points of Presence (PoPs) in its multi-national network.

Terms of the agreement call for Log On America to sign on a minimum number of customers and provide them with the opportunity to resell, on a nationwide basis, DSL based Internet access as it becomes available.

''This agreement is a direct extension of our strategy to expand and enhance Log On America's offerings to customers. We have increased the area in which our rapidly expanding customer base can access the Internet via a local call by over 250%, and added the ability to accomplish this from over 1,000 locations nationally and internationally,'' said David Paolo, Chairman and CEO of Log On America.

Newly added national markets for Log On America's new services include: San Francisco, Los Angeles, Boston, New York, San Diego, Chicago, Washington D.C., and many others. The DSL service is asymmetrical with per-user bandwidth that ranges from 64kbps to 384 Kbps upstream and from 384 Kbps to 768 Kbps downstream, depending on such factors as the customer's region and distance from the central office.

Log On America Inc. is a Northeast Regional Competitive Local Exchange Carrier, CLEC, and Information/Internet Service Provider, IISP, providing local dial-tone, instate toll, long distance, high-speed Internet access and cable programming solutions over traditional copper wire using DSL ' technology to residential and commercial clients throughout the Northeast

WOW, maybe I should buy some LOAX stock!

FLUFF!!!!!!!!!!!!!! on any Nortel relationship!!!!!! Been at Supercomm for the week and LOAX didn't ring a bell with the guys at Nortel who are responsible for these types of relationships. To decipher the dsl equipment press release for everyone; "strategic relationship with Brooktrout' means they bought equipment from Brooktrout and probably alienated their Nortel Board Member in the process. Nortel actually has a better ADSL solution with their 1 meg modem that doesn't require a truck visit to the customer, doesn't require a second copper line, and allows the customer to use the same telephone line for voice and data with an "always on" connection. (bad decision overall, but I'm sure there was some kind of 'brother and law" deal with Brooktrout.) I saw and talked to several DSL equipment vendors at Supercomm and Brooktrout didn't have even a booth that I saw, but they could be the next Lucent, Ascend, or Nortel, so I welcome any enlightening posts here.

One rule on strategic relationships: If revenue doesn't flow in both directions, it isn't a real business relationship. Try that acid test on this relationship.

"when fully deployed" is a funny term. I am following a CLEC right now that has a DSL equipment rollout that will last 3 years.

FYI-My technical guy says this stock hasn't shown support at any level since the IPO. His rule is "never try to catch a falling safe."
