Kap - RE: "It makes sense for AMD to build inventory of k6-2s while they are shaking out bugs in k7 and the chipset. When the final k7 is a go they can shift capacity aggressively to k7 and not worry about missing the k6-2 OEM commitments."

That only makes sense if those K6-2s being stored are high MHz. I'm not talking 400 and 450, but 475 and 500. Otherwise, those non-high-MHz chips already have a low ASP and their prices will drop more to further lower the ASP, instead of hold/increase it (even with price drops) with high-MHZ chips.

If those chips in inventory are mainly 400MHz and slower, I would be scared.

Sure Kap that makes great sense. Reminds me of last years story about AMD wasn't introducing the K63 simply because they didn't want to confuse the market before Christmas. Keep wrapping those $20 bills around those K62s while they sit on a shelf.

Brilliant !

Simply BRILLIANT !

What a Business genius you are - build a $156 million inventory that you CAN'T SELL and sit on it as the value of that inventory declines with every passing day !
