Nothing wrong with posting either, but I believe the Bizwire thread would be a more appropriate place for it. Except of course that BW asked SI to remove the text of its own press release from that thread, so I guess we can't put it back up.

Just curious: isn't "mockery" the point of April Fool's jokes? Like the ones Motley Fool runs each year?

You must really really deplore websites like:

** Off Topic, well.....kinda sort of **

Hi Boris,

Do you mean public records such as a copy of lawsuit material??? I guess that's about as bad as someone creating false web sites mocking legitimate companies........oh please!

C'mon man do you not think this is funny?

detnews.com

The Associated Press and Reuters thought so. This has been discussed on the BW thread, but the April Fool's hoax involved Taco Bell buying the Liberty Bell to reduce the national debt. The news was released to news wires and newspapers. As a concerned citizen that cares about the national debt, was I defrauded or insulted? Hell no, it was funny and perhaps it even made people think about the national debt and what it would take to reduce it.

I'm no fan of our President, but truly admire Mike McCurry.

"We will be doing a series of these things," press secretary Mike McCurry said. "Ford Motor Co. is joining today in an effort to refurbish the Lincoln Memorial. ... It will be the Lincoln Mercury Memorial."

Now THAT'S how to handle an April Fools joke.
