A look at what to expect from the first issue of the new Starbucks magazine, Joe. (The article doesn't mention it, but it will apparently also be available on the web at joemag.com and a number of other domains that have been mentioned here before.)

A joint partnership between Starbucks and New York-based Time Inc., the magazine will be published quarterly in 1999, with additional issues scheduled for distribution in September and December. Both companies say frequency could increase next year, depending on public reaction.

One article ... is titled "Welcome to the Electronic Coffin," a purportedly lighthearted look at life in an office cubicle.

Bound to evoke a response is a photo essay titled "Trust Me," including shots of a bare-breasted woman at a dinner party and a dead squirrel being swept under a rug. About 400,000 inaugural copies are going out next week.
