New Westergaard contributor comments on IDX:

"June 9, 1999

"A Reader Asks: Why is it that Identix' revenues and earnings fail to reflect all the good news published lately on the Company?

"Bob Herz Responds: There are two reasons why IDX's recent results do not reflect the company's excellent long-term prospects: 1. Nonrecurring expenses related to the Identicator Technologies acquisition could not be offset because...2. Industry sales are weak this year as the public sector has delayed acquisition of new equipment while it deals with the Y2K problem.

"We expect the industry to resume its momentum over the next year or so for three reasons: all levels of government continue to enjoy unusual levels of prosperity; biometrics, and particularly fingerprint identification and security, represent both cost savings and increased effectiveness; and identification and incarceration of criminals are proven vote-getters!

"WBN is very optimistic about the Identicator acquisition. Its less-than-$100 fingerprint scanner is not only a strong engine for future growth on its own, but reinforces demand for Identix's products and services. In particular, it opens up broad new private-sector markets to fingerprint identification, enhances the value of already existing fingerprint archives, and advances the replacement of passcards and passwords by fingerprint scanning. It is this last element that is the fundamental basis for the attractiveness of Identix as an investment vehicle."

New analyst, but he still sounds like Westergaard to me. New guys are often heavily edited.

JL,

Maybe not this time.

I think this stuff is about to hit the fan.

The market gets the idea that IDX technology will be embedded in the new Sun, Motorola, Siemens wireless network.....and it's a whole new ball game.

As there will be much press on this....Now would be the time to get that little IDX into the media soup......Somehow, I think IDX may be able to get this done...this time.....as I think this is what all of the filings are about.

Selling at a much higher price would be the incentive......

Just trying to think with my wallet.
