Paul,

Re: "Well, I'm holding a BUNCH !

And AMD's stock sure doesn't suggest a Blow-away K7 is about to be launched upon the waiting world."

Good for you Paul on holding the stock.
Here's the latest from somebody who actually has a K7-600 in his hands at Ace's.

In Response To: June 9th and Intel still has the fastest x86 chip. (Iron Fist)

I think everybody knows by now that the K7 will be launched at 600 and 550 mhz. The fastest Intel chip is now at 550 mhz and the 600 mhz one is scheduled in september, so I would say that AMD is winning the mhz race.

It is strange, but most people have a difficult time to even imagine that another company than Intel is leading the mhz race.

The K7 is as deeply pipelined as the PIII and has bigger gates than the PIII. So unless AMD totally screws up their fabs and the manufacturing process, the K7 will be leading the mhz race. with the info I have now there are very strong indications that the K7 will reach 700 mhz using the .25µ process.

It will depend on the volumes of the K7 produced whether or not this is a threat to intel. Small volumes will still benefit AMD's margins and gains, but won't threaten Intel.

- Johan.
