J.D. Edwards Announces Fully Integrated Human Resources Management and Payroll
U.S. Human Resources and Payroll Software Market to Grow 28.4 Percent Annually
DENVER, June 14 /PRNewswire/ -- Enterprise business software provider J.D. Edwards & Company (Nasdaq: JDEC) today announced the availability of Payroll solutions for OneWorld(TM), previously available only on WorldSoftware(TM), a powerful tool used to automate human resources (HR) and payroll functions resulting in enhanced productivity and efficiency throughout an organization.
Tight integration between this product and J.D. Edwards' human resources, general ledger, accounts payable and job costing solutions, call center management, among others, allows organizations to take advantage of full automation and improve communication between departments. Managing union payrolls and wage attachments, administering benefits and salaries, tracking recruitment and hiring activities are processes that realize significant cost savings and improved efficiencies from this OneWorld product.
A recent IDC forecast for the U.S. HR and payroll software market shows an annual compound growth rate of 28.4 percent for the period 1998 to 2003. By 2003, IDC predicts the market will reach $5.8 billion.
With the full integration of the Payroll solution and the Human Resources solution, J.D. Edwards provides organizations with employee and manager self-service. By using either the Web or company Intranet, employees can view and update personal information such as W4's, pay stub history, benefits enrollment and time entry, among other pertinent information. Additionally, managers can initiate new hires and terminations through the same system and the payroll information will be automatically updated.
The Payroll workbench provides users with one central control panel where payroll needs can be executed, edited and verified. Summary information about the entire payroll can be viewed and users can drill down to all levels of detail from there. This function is integrated with other areas such as general ledger, accounts payable, benefits, call center and shop floor.
OneWorld Payroll Management allows users to:
* Create ad hoc reports without query language.
* Access salary, benefit and career planning information.
* Recognize labor and overhead expenses as they occur for precise planning
and variance analysis.
* Calculate gross to net, view summary payroll information, verify
information and print checks from one centralized workbench.
* Streamline data entry by recording time for jobs, projects, service
billings and equipment maintenance at one point of entry.
* Comply with government requirements such as the Davis/Bacon Act and
Certified Payroll Register.
"In this tight labor market, companies need to maintain a competitive edge through resourceful information management," said Fred Studer, director of product marketing, general business for J.D. Edwards. "With our solutions, we eliminate the headaches that come with managing the recruiting, hiring and retention of quality employees.
"Our automation features allow companies to quickly and easily act on new ideas and respond to changing business needs without rewriting software or interfering with the organization's productivity," Studer said.
Jeff Trivelli, implementation project manager for Beers Construction Company touted the benefits of J.D. Edwards' Payroll Management software. "OneWorld allows us to do simultaneous billing, which is a huge savings to us." Trivelli said. "Instead of entering time twice, we can enter the billing rate and the cost rate at the same time. Payroll Management will automatically make adjustments." A SkanskaUSA company located in Atlanta, Georgia, Beers has offices in North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Florida, Georgia and Virginia and brings more than nine decades of building and management expertise to many specialized markets.
Payroll for OneWorld(TM) is available in the United States and is expected to be available in Canada this month, with each version incorporating legislative and regulatory reporting requirements for each country. J.D. Edwards plans to expand this solution to include versions for Mexico, Australia and New Zealand. Announcements about payroll for other countries can be expected in the future.
