The Cabletron (CS) takeover talk is picking up momentum. One clear sign of
this is the rich price of its call options, which indicates that at least some
investors believe an extraordinary event could be in the works.

Repetitive rumblings have it that German electronics giant Siemens AG is
coming with a bid in the near future of between $22 and $26 a share, or
roughly $4 billion.

Cabletron, a manufacturer of computer interconnection equipment, is currently
trading at 15, up 7/8, on a volume of more than 2 million shares.

Siemens' reponse: "On matters of speculation, we neither confirm nor deny."
Cabletron officials declined comment.
