John, I strongly suggest that you read the following at your earliest convenience:

patents.ibm.com

If you know anything about the hassles folks have had with Flash memory, you'll appreciate the patented solution that EDIG has developed. The patent is lengthy (~26 pages), but is invaluable in appreciating just what this company's prospects are. BTW, intellectual properties such as patents and designs are very lucrative products in their own right, with far less overhead standing in the way of net profits. This bird has yet to stretch its wings, IMHO.

>>patents and products are two different things.<<

It doesn't seem that you understand either. If you did, you wouldn't have compared Micro OS to Windows CE.

As for EPAC vs MP3, lucent has a good shot. After all all, they are the founding member of the SDMI, and unlike Rio they are not in litigation with the RIAA. Labels will protect their archives, and variety is the spice of life.

Good Luck,
Kerry
