More on QWST and BLS analysis....
___________________

Qwest Communications (QWST) 46 +2 11/16: Stock up in reaction to WSJ article speculating that Bell South (BLS) interested in acquiring 90% of QWST it doesn't own already... Journal points to BLS SEC filing which states "BellSouth has considered, and continues to explore, ...various alternatives relating to BLS's interest in Qwest, including transactions which may result in the acquisition of a control position in, or combination with, the company." BLS acquired its 10% stake in QWST back in mid-April... However, current regulations prevent BLS or any regional Bell operating company from owning more than a 10% stake in any long-distance carrier... Though BLS is challenging that regulation in the courts, it is likely to lose... That said, many on street expect RBOC's to gain access to long-distance market in at least one state by year end... Nevertheless, traders should note that the legal hurdles to a BLS/QWST deal are high... QWST , with a market cap of $30 bln would also be a very expensive acquisition for BLS... So while a marriage of these two telecom titans has merit in that it would join BLS expertise at the local level with QWST's growing presence in the long-distance arena, regulatory and financial obstacles suggest to us that any deal is unlikely at this juncture... As speculation dies down, any takeover premium currently being built into QWST's stock price likely to erode... Technically, today's gain places QWST right in the middle of a three-month trading range marked by 50 at the top and 40 at the bottom.

Good Morning! I'm Back from a week long island vacation....and I can't say that I'm happy to be home.

There is no substitue for rest and relaxation.

I guess this is the big news that I forecasted. I must say that I would be shocked to see BellS. buy my little jewel....both for regulatory reasons and because I do not think that Qwest is looking for such a deal.

Nacchio was quoted as saying "it is highly unlikely that Qwest will be purchased by BellSouth". I hope that he is correct.

Also...I need about 400 more shares to be in position on Qwest....will anyone sell them to me inexpensively? lol ... at perhaps $80'ish?

Regards to all,

Jason
