Jim, your post took the words right out of my mouth. The current issue of Red Herring has a "Winners and Losers" table and of course LOR and G* stand out prominently. It almost makes it worse [in a weird sort of way] that several other issues I own are in the Big Win column: the satellite/global telephony investments really look like dog kah kah just now.
Since I persuaded a few jillion friends to part with their hard earned to buy Bernie till it hurt, the disappointment is even worse. There may be no better definition of a bear market for a stock than when good news has nada impact. Rockets always blow up, Bernie took soldering irons buried in his backpack straight to the Great Wall, the Chinese play dirty and spy on us, and Iridium proves that there's no demand for satellite telephony even when you do get launch vehicles not to go boom. Meanwhile the CEO of EBAY was paid MORE in personal compensation than the damned company's ANNUAL GROSS REVENUES. Yes, in case you're wondering, I am in a bad mood.
Well, when the going gets tough, it's time to play golf. Sooner or later the market will figure these great investments out, and I intend to gloat immaturely all the way to the bank. Thanks for listening. Mike Doyle
