But I think we are talking about two different sorts of trading needs. Here is my problem:

Let's say I want to buy (to open a position) 100 shares of XYZ, which is presently trading at 50...but only if XYZ trades up to 51. I don't want to watch every tick, so what I want to do (as I used to do with a live broker) is set an automatic buy order above the present ask (a "buy stop"). Will Datek let me do that?

Or alternatively: say I want to short 100 shares of XYZ at 49, without watching the ticker all day...so I want to set a sell stop order below the current bid (to open the position...I do not yet own the shares). Will Datek let me do that?

I've emailed Datek, but of course there is the usual computer reply (worthless).
