<I think you know very well that Intel is skirting the benchmark issues.> The benchmarks that are shown on Intel's web site almost always compare different processors in the same market segment. Mobile Celeron is intended to become the replacement for the mobile Pentium MMX in the value laptop market segment, which is why that comparison was made. Dixon was meant to replace the mobile Pentium II in the performance laptop market segment, which is why that comparison was made. There's been no comparison published between a Dixon and a mobile Celeron because Intel has decided that those two processors serve different market segments. Obviously, there's going to be some overlap between the "value" and the "performance" segments, but then Intel would argue that the components usually found on Celeron-based laptops are cheaper and less-capable than the components usually found on Pentium II-based laptops. You could call it "skirting the benchmark issues" if you wanted to, especially if someone decided to pull the Dixon processor out of a so-called "performance" laptop, replaced it with a mobile Celeron, then benchmarked the two configurations. No one has done that yet, mainly because you can't just open up a laptop and get at the processor as easily as a desktop. It all just goes back to the question of market segmentation and whether you approve of it or not. Tenchusatsu
