Are we talking a full moon here? It has a "new Earth", not much being reflected off our night side. Where the sun doan shine.

Ok, even better. Look at a crescent moon. Look at the "earthlight". That's the romantic suffusion of photons the Lunies see when the Earth is near full. Look thru good binocs.

Earthlight is orange.
